Its foundational principle challenges the conventional approach of treating context as unstructured text segments. Instead, it adopts a filesystem-inspired model, aiming to consolidate memory, assets, and capabilities within a coherent hierarchical framework. The initiative addresses five persistent challenges in agent engineering: disjointed context, escalating context size in prolonged operations, suboptimal retrieval in linear RAG systems, inadequate visibility into retrieval processes, and constrained memory evolution beyond dialogue logs.
